The rug design revolves around a idea of interconnections. The red knot in the center is an abstract idea of one of the eight symbols of Buddhism, which is the infinity knot that ties all three components. The Chinese clouds envelop the landscape of the place at the same time, an expression of Buddhist culture and history. The eyes on the left are influenced by the famous mask dance in the Pemayangtse Monastery, representing the local people and their overlap with the monastery and faith. The lower part of the rug represents the lines, an abstraction of the Lepcha weave influenced by the local community. The colors are drawn from the lush landscapes – the vibrant green of the forests, the deep blue of the sacred lakes, and the red tones of the monasteries – all infuse the rug with the essence of nature.

A fiber obtained from the fleece of sheep and other certain animals, including cashmere from goats, mohair from goats, qiviut from muskoxen, angara from rabbits, and alpaca wool from camelids. It is soft, durable and sustainable. Wool is graded for fineness and length. The length varies from place to place on the animal, but it mostly varies amongst sheep breeds. The finest qualities are used for clothing and the coarser, curlier and most resilient qualities are used for carpeting.
Our hand tufted carpets have been specially developed and constructed to adhere to the demanding requirements of the hospitality sector. The hand tufting technique is a process combining centuries-old skills and modern weaving tools. The canvas is perfectly stretched over an upright loom and the craftsperson transfers by hand the future design of the rug with the utmost precision. Threads are inserted manually, one by one, working with a gun on the back of the canvas, following the colours, the drawing and the different tuft heights.
