Infinite Garden transforms the concept of paradise into a tactile, immersive form. Drawing from the Islamic garden, the carpet’s flowing interplay of geometric, floral and calligraphic motifs creates a visual impression of infinity, where order and imperfection coexist.

In this piece, Hassan also explores the idea of unraveling threads: where symmetrical patterns dissolve into loosely detached threads, the work reflects the paradox of paradise itself, structured yet formless, permanent yet impermanent, material yet spiritual. The carpet becomes a space where the threads of heritage, memory, and identity flow beyond boundaries, echoing both continuity and transformation. Suspended from the ceiling, the piece bridges celestial and earthly realms, inviting viewers to contemplate a perpetual state of becoming, where permanence and fluidity, structure and freedom, exist in harmony. A soft red border frames the composition, symbolizing openness and invitation, reinforcing the boundless, unifying nature of paradise.

Our collaboration with Areen Hassan, a Palestinian textile artist and designer based in Dubai, is rooted in a shared appreciation for the power of textiles to carry memory. identity, and meaning. Aren’s work draws deeply from her heritage, using the language of carpets to explore the relationship between people and the objects that shape their cultural and spiritual worlds. Her pieces reflect a long-standing connection to the symbolism and materiality of carpets-woven forms that, for her, evoke home, continuity, and a deep sense of belonging. Inspired by the idea of the Islamic garden, her work balances the grounded and the transcendent, capturing both the physical and emotional landscapes of her experience.

Silk

Silk fibers, prized for their luxurious and exquisite qualities, make an exceptional choice for crafting rugs of unparalleled beauty and sophistication. Harvested from the cocoons of silkworms, these fine threads are known for their natural sheen, soft texture, and remarkable strength. Silk rugs boast a lustrous appearance that catches and reflects light, creating a dynamic interplay of colors and enhancing the overall aesthetic of any space.

Technique

Hand knotting

Produced on a vertical loom, the hand-knotted technique includes manual weaving the strands tightly to the warp by knots. The size of the knots used is what creates the difference in the variety of the rug while the number of knots influences the density, pattern and sturdiness.

Care Instruction

1. Vacuum regularly to remove loose dirt and debris.

 

2. Solid material can be either removed by vacuuming or by using a knife.

 

3. Any liquid spill should be immediately cleaned with a clean white cloth to avoid stains.

 

4. Loose ends of the fibre may stick out under severe wear and tear. Clip these ends, Pulling threads or fibre may lead to severe damage to the rug.

 

5. Spills of coloured liquid and curry have to be immediately treated with club soda to neutralize the stain.

 

6. Avoid humidity and moisture at all costs.

 

7. Only in case of a severe stain should you resort to a mild soap solution. Blot to treat them and remove the solution with a wet towel.
